Hello, we are Rod and Suzie Douglas...
Our Truffiere is on very fertile Katikati land that’s been in Suzie’s family since 1930.
We started our journey...
In 2007 we started preparing the soil for the change of use from cattle grazing to growing truffles.
In 2009, when we planted our first 100 truffle-inoculated oak trees, followed by an additional 95 oak trees and a few hazelnut trees in 2010.
After years of dedication, we discovered our first truffle in 2017, about eight years after planting.
Although initial production was minimal, by 2024, we had a sufficient yield to start selling our truffles.
Our team also includes two lovely Black Russian Terriers, Griz and Ollie, who are making remarkable progress as our truffle hunters!
